چکیده

In vivo magnetic resonance (Mr) imaging and spectroscopy are expanding our capability to observe and investigate many biomedical processes without invasive interventions. The unique 900-Mhz ultra-wide bore (uWB) 21.1 tesla magnet built at the Magnet lab in Tallahassee provides unprecedented opportunities to examine living systems. in this report, we present our first experiences and the results of in vivo Mr imaging at the highest field available for such studies. The ability to conduct in vivo Mr imaging experiments was achieved as a result of multiple steps taken over the past few months. This work comprised designing and fabricating coils and probes, certifying facilities for animals, and gaining institutional approval for animal research. it also included the installation of an anesthesia station and animal physiological monitoring system. The Magnet lab now has its own animal facility conveniently located in close proximity to the Mr scanners and consists of animal housing rooms and animal procedural spaces. These accomplishments afford opportunities for internal and external users to run a variety of Mr imaging experiments using the Magnet lab world-record 900 uWB magnet.

DNA Damages on Blood Cells After Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: Along with the increased use of cardiac imaging at clinics there is increased attention to the potential risks related to the methods used like magnetic resonance (MR) and it cannot be ruled out that MR can alter DNA structure. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of routine cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scanning on DNA damages in human T lymphocytes....

Recent Advances in PET-MR Hybrid contrast agent

Introduction: All of the Imaging modalities have advantages and disadvantages alone. So if we want to have the best and perfect image, combining these modalities produces something we desired. PET-MR images consist of morphologic and metabolic data. MRI and PET provide high spatial and contrast resolution and high sensitivity and molecular information respectively. Hybrid PET-...

Ultrafast in vivo diffusion imaging of stroke at 21.1 T by spatiotemporal encoding.

PURPOSE This study quantifies in vivo ischemic stroke brain injuries in rats using ultrahigh-field single-scan MRI methods to assess variations in apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCs). METHODS Magnitude and diffusion-weighted spatiotemporally encoded imaging sequences were implemented on a 21.1 T imaging system, and compared with spin-echo and echo-planar imaging diffusion-weighted imaging ...

Quadrature RF Coil and Phased Array Operation at 21.1 T

Introduction: The use of ultra-high magnetic fields for magnetic resonance imaging has the ability to increased signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), higher spatial resolution and/or reduced imaging times. The highest of field currently available for imaging pursuits is 21.1 T. Increased wavelength effects and radiation and component losses caused by high operating frequencies at 21.1 T (900 MHz for H...

Changes of Cortisol and Glucose Concentrations in Rats Exposed to MR Imaging Field

Background: MR imaging is one of the best diagnostic modalities in medicine. During an MR imaging examination, three types of field are employed to produce images. Various experimental studies have been performed about the effects of each single type of field but only few studies are available on their combination to generate MR imaging. The main objective of this research work is to study the ...
